Joining St John''s Higher Walton

Later in life dad came to appreciate the structure of liturgy within Anglicanism and so he and mum left Bethesda Chapel and joined St John's.  They were made very welcome and they fitted in well.  Dad led the Discovery Bible Study group for years.  He preached regularly.  He served on the PCC.  His clarity of thought passion for Scripture inspired many on their journey of faith.  Music making with Brian Rigby and others was a source of great pleasure and not unusually, laughter too!

He continued his preaching and teaching ministry for much of the next vicar's time - Rev'd John Harries before decided he would retire before he went 'gaga'.  We told him he was a long way off being that but he sensibly decided to withdraw altogether.

Sadly he had little opportunity to be at church when once Rev'd Anita Raggett arrived but he appreciated her visits with home communion, and earlier this year, a beautiful service of anointing for healing and wholeness.

Many long lasting friendships were formed with people at St John's.
